Harry Baldry, MidfielderDalton Harris
follow link I’m Harry Baldry, a 17 year old from Wisbech, Peterborough. I’m also a 2nd year right footed midfielder for Peterborough United. I’ve only been at Peterborough United for 3 years, as I was scouted when I 14 years old from my local football club.
As a midfielder, I’m a natural playmaker who’s both footed very similar to Santi Cazorla. I enjoy breaking forward and supporting the attackers, either by dribbling and playing clever balls to our strikers.
In terms of this season, I’m happy as more recently I’ve been playing more regularly and I’ve definitely started to become more in form and play like the player I know I am. As a second year, I understand that I only have until the end of this season to impress the club’s senior management and perform to the levels that I’m asked to sign a professional deal with the club.
As a team, we’re currently playing in a 4-2-3-1 and I’m playing in the 3 out wide. When in possession, my role is to be busy and rotate with the other 2 players in the 3 to make it difficult to make and create space, from then I can try and create assists and make things happen. When we’re out of possession it’s important that I drop into that 3 and defend my duties as a winger.
I’ve been injured recently, so it’s important that now I’m fit again, I can come back and make an impact on the team. I really want to play for the U21’s for most of the rest of the season and I’d love to be able to make the bench for the first team too. If I’m able to do these 2 things, it will stand me in good stead for earning myself a professional contract.
My first team buddy is Paul Taylor which is great, because he’s very talented and intelligent, so to be able to have access to his personal advice and understanding of the game is a huge advantage for me to improve on my own game. I also think he’ll do very well for the first team this year. On top of that I think George Moncur is a huge asset to the club. To see him in training is just unreal, I have very high hopes for him this season!
Hopefully this has given you a small insight into my life as a professional footballer and I’ll keep you updated throughout the season!
